You can get this supplement for eligible care recipients if you use an average of 70% or more of your respite care allocation each month for 12 months, up to and including the current claim month.
Care recipients are eligible if they have an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) approval for high-level residential respite care.
An approved resident has up to 63 days of subsidised respite care. An ACAT can approve an extension of the number of subsidised respite days by up to 21 days at a time.
How to apply
The Department of Human Services automatically pays this supplement for eligible care recipients.
If you meet the 70% target, your payment is made at the end of the month. Payment is for each of the high-level care respite days you provided during that month.
