Hotelling supplement for residential aged care

Approved providers of residential aged care homes receive the hotelling supplement to help meet the cost of providing everyday living services. This includes services such as catering, cleaning and laundry.

About the hotelling supplement

This supplement funds approved residential aged care providers to help meet the cost of providing everyday living services, including catering, cleaning and laundry.

Supplement rate

The hotelling supplement rate is paid per resident per day (PRPD).

See the Schedule of Subsidies and Supplements for the current rate.

Supplement increases

From 20 September 2025 the hotelling supplement will increase from $15.60 to $22.15 PRPD. This increase includes indexation plus $6.24 PRPD to fund the higher costs of providing everyday living services, as identified by Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA).

From this date, the hotelling supplement will be indexed annually on 20 September, following consideration of pricing advice by IHACPA.

Eligibility

All residential aged care homes receive the supplement, excluding those in the Multi-Purpose Services Program.

How to apply

Residential aged care providers do not need to apply for the hotelling supplement.

Services Australia will automatically pay the supplement to eligible aged care homes.
