Aged care volunteer Wilma has been volunteering since 2021. She opens up about why she decided to volunteer and why she likes supporting residents at Kalyra Woodcroft.

Caring for people through aged care volunteering

Wilma has been volunteering in aged care since 2021 at Kalyra Woodcroft.

‘During Covid, my workplace closed down and I had to re-evaluate my life. My husband was in an accident and I became his carer. I like helping people, so that’s when I decided to volunteer.’

Wilma provides a lot of support to aged care residents, such as assisting with meals, cleaning and activities.

‘I like serving people, talking with them, having a laugh and just feeling like I am doing something worthwhile. It’s nice to help people, you feel better if you help them.’

Make a positive impact to older people in your community by finding aged care volunteering opportunities.
