This supplement is for providers of residential aged care.
About the hotelling supplement
This supplement funds registered providers of approved residential care homes to help meet the cost of providing everyday living services, including catering, cleaning and laundry.
Supplement rate
The hotelling supplement rate is paid per resident per day.
For the current supplement rate, see the Schedule of Subsidies and Supplements for Residential and Transition Care.
If a resident’s income and/or assets are above certain thresholds, they will contribute to the cost of everyday living services by paying a hotelling contribution.
The hotelling supplement rate may be reduced by a resident’s assessed hotelling contribution amount.
For more information about the hotelling contribution and which residents it applies to, see means tested fees for residential aged care.
Supplement increases
The hotelling supplement is indexed each year on 20 September, following consideration of pricing advice by the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority.
Eligibility
All registered providers of approved residential care homes receive the hotelling supplement, excluding those in the Multi-Purpose Services Program.
How to apply
Providers do not need to apply for the hotelling supplement.
Payment
Services Australia will automatically pay the supplement to eligible residential aged care homes.
The hotelling supplement is paid monthly in line with other residential aged care subsidies and supplements.
