When this privacy notice applies
This privacy notice applies when you make a submission or complaint to the System Governor, including when you use the online web form to contact the System Governor responsible for registered supporters.
Your personal information is protected by law, including the:

- your name (if provided)
- your address (if provided)
- your phone number (if provided)
- your email (if provided)
- your Aged Care Identification Number (if provided)
- your relationship with other people, including people you support or who support you (if provided)
- the type of submission you’re making (a complaint, submission, or declaration of a conflict of interest).
Why we collect this information
We need this information to help the System Governor carry out their role under the Aged Care Act 2024. This includes:
- looking into complaints about registered supporters – for example, if a registered supporter is misusing private information they’ve been given, or if they’re taking advantage of their role in a way that goes against the relevant laws.
- helping registered supporters meet their legal responsibilities – such as telling the System Governor about any conflict of interest they have, and the steps they will take to avoid or manage that conflict.
- allowing people to share information with the System Governor – for example, if someone wants to make a formal statement in response to a notification they have received from the System Governor or raise a complaint about a registered supporter under the Act.
We may also collect information to determine the best way to treat a complaint or submission, and to seek more information if needed.
If you choose not to provide any contact information, we won’t be able to respond to you.
How we collect this information

We may collect further information from third parties relating to information you have raised, as authorised by law.
Who we disclose your personal information to
We will disclose your information to anyone the law requires or authorises us to share this with.
Generally, we will not disclose your personal information to overseas recipients, however the following may apply:
- If you're registered with My Aged Care, we usually only send your personal information outside Australia if you or your registered supporter contacts My Aged Care, logs into your online account, or gets information from us by email or text while overseas.
- If you're not registered with My Aged Care, we usually only send your personal information outside Australia if you – or someone authorised to access your information – asks for it or views it while overseas.
How we store your information
We store personal information on electronic media, including our Electronic Document and Records Management System and cloud computing solutions. We also hold personal information on paper files.
