The veterans’ supplement is for registered providers of the Support at Home program and residential aged care.
It also automatically applies to the following types of flexible care:
- Multi-Purpose Services
- National Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program
What is the supplement?
This supplement helps with the cost of caring for veterans with a mental health condition related to their service.

Eligibility
To be eligible, a person must:
- be a veteran
- have a mental health condition that the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) accepts is related to their service
DVA and Services Australia will match information to check eligibility.
How to apply
You do not need to apply for this supplement.
If you provide Support at Home services or residential aged care, you automatically get this supplement for eligible participants or residents. Services Australia will let you know in their payment advice to you.
If you provide flexible care, you automatically get this supplement as part of your subsidy or grant payment.
Payment
Payment is automatic once an older person (or their legal representative) agrees to release information about their eligibility to you and Services Australia. This does not include information about their mental health condition.
Payment starts on the day they entered care or became eligible for this supplement (whichever is later).
If you’re a Support at Home provider, you must include this supplement in your participant’s individualised budget.
