2012 basic daily fee supplement for aged care

This supplement helps eligible permanent care residents who were in residential aged care on 1 July 2012 to meet the 2012 basic daily fee increase.

This supplement is not available for residential respite care.

What is the supplement?

This supplement helps residents who were in permanent care on 1 July 2012 and did not get any financial support to meet the 2012 basic daily fee increase.

The rate of basic daily fee that you can charge for these residents is available in the Schedule of Fees and Charges for Residential Care. This fee is indexed on 20 March and 20 September each year, in line with pension increases.

Eligibility

Your residents are eligible if, on 1 July 2012, they were in permanent residential aged care and did not have:

  • an age pension
  • a service pension
  • a seniors supplement
  • a seniors health card.

You must have received a subsidy for the resident under:

Eligibility requirements are set out in Section 242B-15 of the Aged Care Rules 2025.

How to apply

You do not need to apply for this supplement. Services Australia automatically pays it to you on behalf of eligible permanent care residents.
