Funding for the Multi-Purpose Services (MPS) Program

We pay a flexible care subsidy to approved MPS providers. This is combined with health services funding from state and territory governments.

How the MPS Program is funded

MPS providing health and aged care services in small regional and remote communities receive funding through:

  • a flexible care subsidy from the Australian Government for aged care services
  • state and territory government funding for health services, capital and infrastructure costs.

MPS can use the combined funds flexibly to make use of limited resources and achieve the best outcomes.

We have a payment agreement that covers the aged care funding component with MPS providers, most of which are state or territory governments.

The current agreement covers from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.

Allocated flexible aged care places

Approved MPS providers can apply for an allocation of flexible aged care places.
