Helping others, get out and enjoy life through aged care volunteering

Ruth started volunteering in aged care over 8 years ago after her husband suggested she give it a try.

‘I was made redundant from my banking/administration position after 20 years of service. My husband was volunteering at Meals on Wheels and he suggested I give it a go.’

Ruth still volunteers with Nepean Food Services – Meals on Wheels as a Reception, Administration and Social Outings Assistant.

‘I answer phone enquiries, file invoices, assist clients on and off the bus on outings and do any other office administration work. I love interacting with the clients and other volunteers and I also enjoy the social outings. It’s very satisfying to see the clients getting out and enjoying life.’

Make a positive impact to older people in your community by finding aged care volunteering opportunities.
