Why we will publish the information
The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety recommended that older people have better access to information on the operations of approved providers.
Publishing this information will provide greater transparency on what aged care providers spend their money on. Older people, their families and carers can use this information to:
- make informed decisions on care needs
- compare and choose the right aged care provider for them.
Finance and operations on My Aged Care
Residential aged care and home care finance and operations information is published on the My Aged Care website.
We published the latest update of financial information reflected in Quarter 3 Quarterly Financial Report on 26 August 2024. There will be regular updates to follow each quarter to reflect new reporting that has been submitted.
By using the ‘Find a Provider’ tool, you can search for information on:
- breakdowns of income, expenses and surplus or deficit budget positions
- minimum, maximum and average hourly wage rates for registered nurses, enrolled nurses and personal care workers
- feedback, complaints and improvements
- activities to support a diverse and inclusive environment
- diversity of the provider’s governing body
- service provision and use
- food preparation
- information reported by the provider’s governing body about whether the provider meets its requirements under aged care legislation.
Preview of information
Ahead of each quarterly or annual publication update, residential and home care providers will be able to preview their individual information through the Government Provider Management System (GPMS) before it is published on the My Aged Care website.
This step is not mandatory, but encouraged to maximise data integrity.
Resources are available to help providers in previewing their information, including:
- user guides
- a quick reference guide
- frequently asked questions
- videos.
This initiative does not apply to CHSP providers.
Consultation
To develop this change and ensure the information we publish is clear and representative of aged care providers and services, we consulted with stakeholders, including:
- older people and their representatives
- aged care providers and workers
- peak bodies and consumer groups.
