Expanding the program
We are further expanding the QI Program from 1 April 2023. This is part of the Australian Government response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. We are implementing this through the 2021–22 budget measure Empowering consumers of aged care with information to exercise choice.
We will introduce 6 new quality indicators for residential aged care relating to:
- activities of daily living
- incontinence care
- consumer experience
- quality of life.

These resources for residential aged care providers will support consistent data collection and quality improvement activities for the new quality indicators.
