Consultation for the QI Program

We consult when we review or plan to expand the National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicator Program (QI Program).

New quality indicators for in-home aged care

We are developing new quality indicators for in-home aged care. The in-home aged care quality indicators will only apply to providers under the new Support at Home program. They will not start before 1 July 2026.

We completed consultation on suitable quality indicators for in-home aged care in July 2024. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

The next step will be a pilot of the quality indicators for in-home aged care.

New quality indicators for staffing

We completed public consultation on 3 new staffing quality indicators in 2024. Several providers took part in a 6-week pilot to test potential new staffing indicators.

Who we work with

We are working with HealthConsult, the University of Queensland’s Centre for Health Services Research and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute to:

  • develop and pilot the new staffing quality indicators
  • develop and consult on the new in-home aged care quality indicators.
