Your responsibilities
The Program provides students a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) in a medical course at an Australian university. In exchange, participants complete a Return of Service Obligation (RoSO) by working for 156 weeks as a medical practitioner in eligible regional, rural and remote areas. Participants self-manage their RoSO through the Bonded Return of Service System (BRoSS).
As a Program participant, you are responsible for:
- completing your RoSO within 18 years of medical course completion
- reporting career milestones and eligible work as specified in sections 15 and 16 of the Health Insurance (Bonded Medical Program) Rule 2020.
Program requirements include:
- regularly logging in to BRoSS to ensure your information is current.
- uploading evidence of career milestones (called Notifiable Events) to BRoSS.
- planning, activating and completing RoSO plans in BRoSS – including uploading evidence for any eligible work you wish to count towards your RoSO.
Once you have completed 156 weeks of RoSO, we will review your evidence and confirm if you have met Program requirements.
