Older people, their families and carers
Better digital systems and tools will help older people navigate the system, make informed decisions and access coordinated care.
Providers and workers
Digital solutions that are user-friendly, simple, fit-for-purpose and compatible with government systems will streamline and reduce providers' administrative work and support coordinated care.
Technology vendors
Clear system standards and specification will support secure integration with government systems, providing technology developers and vendors certainty and confidence to invest and innovate.
Government
Accurate, real-time data will help government manage and monitor aged care compliance, safeguard older people, direct funding and policy effectively and improve aged care.
Aged Care Data and Digital Strategy 2024–2029
The Aged Care Data and Digital Strategy 2024–2029 outlines the Australian Government’s approach to encouraging innovation and harnessing the power of data and digital to improve care and wellbeing for older people accessing aged care.
Actions and initiatives
Government Provider Management System (GPMS)
The GPMS makes it easier for providers to access and report information to government. In the future it will be a master source of information across the aged care system.
Aged care Business to Government initiative
We are creating a direct flow of information between between aged care providers and government systems. This will support aged care reforms, and enable aged care providers to spend less time on administration and more time on delivering quality aged care.
Star Ratings for residential aged care
Star Ratings is an easy way for older people, their families and carers to compare the quality of aged care homes, so that they can make informed choices about their aged care.
Integrated Assessment Tool
The Integrated Assessment Tool app enables the assessment workforce to collect more complete information and record older people’s individual stories.
