Aged care Business to Government (B2G) initiative

We are creating a direct flow of information between between aged care providers and government systems. This will support aged care reforms, and enable aged care providers to spend less time on administration and more time on delivering quality aged care.

About the initiative

B2G will make it easier for providers to exchange information with government systems.

Software developers can access a development portal, developed through a co-design process to build software that interacts easily with government systems. 

The portal contains

  • resources for accessing Application Programming Interface (API) specifications
  • the steps for testing and software conformance assessment, ensuring secure integration with government systems.

Why it is important

B2G will support the aged care reforms we are implementing in response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.  

For providers, this technology can:

  • reduce time spent on administration, enabling workers to spend more time delivering direct and high-quality care
  • improve data to inform and uplift care
  • streamline transparent reporting that demonstrates the quality of care delivered.

For older people, this means they will:

  • receive more direct care
  • experience an uplift in the quality of aged care they access
  • access better information to make informed decisions about their care.


Products can now be submitted for conformance, by following the steps outlined in the developer portal. The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) coordinates this process.

Once software achieves conformance, products will be released to aged care providers. Provider can then use the software to submit mandatory reporting through APIs to the government.

Over time, B2G may expand to include additional aspects of care. 

The B2G API Gateway will create a direct flow of information between aged care providers and Government systems.
