Who we work with on Medicare compliance
We work with many stakeholders to support health professionals’ billing and ensure compliance with claiming requirements.
We work with agencies and departments within the Australian Government as well state and territory governments.
Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
DVA manage payments for the treatment of their clients. DVA regularly monitor provider claims to ensure that:
- appropriate services are provided and claimed for, in adherence with the DVA Notes and Fee Schedules
- any referral and claiming requirements are met.
Services Australia manages many of the payments made under Medicare and its programs. It does compliance audits and reviews for:
- the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)
- the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
- the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
- the Practitioner Incentives Program (PIP).
Public and private healthcare sectors
We work with professionals across both public and private healthcare sectors. We want to ensure that healthcare providers have all the information they need to avoid any issues regarding their Medicare compliance.
We work with peak professional bodies for doctors in Australia. We provide billing education through their online learning platforms, such as doctorportal Learning. Doctors may earn continuing professional development (CPD) points by completing the online courses.
Indemnity insurers help healthcare professionals when they undergo an audit. To ensure they are providing healthcare professionals with the best advice possible, we work with indemnity insurers to make them aware of policy changes that might affect their customers.
