MRI and PET unit locations in Australia

Not all magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines are Medicare-eligible. MRI machines that are Medicare-eligible can be either fully or partially eligible. 

• Fully Medicare-eligible MRI machines attract a Medicare rebate for the patient for all MRI services listed on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).
• Partially Medicare-eligible MRI machines attract a Medicare rebate for the patient for a smaller set of specific services listed on the MBS. These are primarily GP-requested services, which includes items for children under 16 years old.
