Description:

This plan will be the main policy document to guide all action to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

In alignment with the new National Agreement on Closing the Gap, this includes a strong focus on:

  • identifying opportunities to strengthen and prioritise the community controlled health sector
  • outlining the necessary mechanisms for mainstream health services to provide culturally safe and responsive care.

We developed the plan in full and genuine partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to reflect their priorities and perspectives. The plan takes a holistic and strengths-based approach that reinforces the cultural and social factors across a person's life.
