    • Commencement of vocational training advisory
    • ‘Proposed completion date’ under your ‘Commencement of vocational training’ advisory if appropriate
    • Attain medical specialisation advisory, once you fellow
  • plan, activate and complete Return of Service Obligation (RoSO) plans in BRoSS for any work you wish to credit towards your RoSO.

If you cease your vocational training before attaining fellowship, or alter your specialty type, please let us know so we can update your BRoSS record.

Updating your vocational completion date

  • If you have completed your vocational training, please update your ‘Attain medical specialisation’ by clicking ‘Advise’.
  • If you have not completed your vocational training by your goal date you will need to update this to reflect a future placeholder date. To edit this return to ‘Commencement of vocational training’.

Limit to amount of RoSO claimed prior to fellowship

Under section 9(3) of the Health Insurance (Bonded Medical Program) Rule 2020, you can only reduce your RoSO by up to 78 weeks (18 months) before you become a fellow, or within the first 12 years of your 18-year period.

Once you become a fellow or have commenced the 13th year period, whichever comes first, you can complete the remaining 78 weeks of RoSO.

Your RoSO progress is shown at the top of your screen in the planning and summary bars, based on planned and credited RoSO and your current phase.

The 18.0 unplanned section on the progress bar will remain grey until you update your ‘Attain medical specialisation’ record to unlock your Fellow phase. Once that’s done, any RoSO activities you plan post-fellowship will turn the progress bar from grey to orange.
