About the project
We are working with aged care providers and software vendors to develop, design and test improved aged care ICT platforms and systems that connect and integrate better.
Why it is important
This project supports Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety recommendations that government should invest in technology systems and platforms to support aged care reforms.
Better technology connections between aged care providers and government will:
- enable direct information and data sharing
- make information exchange easier and more efficient
- reduce administrative burden for providers.

Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
The B2G developer portal offers Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). APIs are interfaces that enable different systems to securely share information.
Developers can use these B2G APIs to build and authenticate software products that:
- help aged care provider software communicate with government systems
- streamline reporting and data exchange to reduce administration activities for aged care providers.
Read the privacy notice to understand how we manage personal information when you register to use the developer portal.
Conformance
Before these software products are made available to the sector, they must undergo rigorous testing and pass conformance assessment.
Conformance testing ensures a software product meets set standards for secure use in the B2G gateway.
Conformance requirements assist software developers to design and develop software products and systems that:
- conform with applicable standards when connecting to, and interacting with, the B2G gateway system
- minimise clinical safety, privacy, policy, architecture, cyber security, and legal risks.
B2G gateway
The B2G gateway provides a secure, direct connection between software products and government systems.
Once it has passed conformance, a software product is connected to the B2G gateway. Providers will submit reports and share data through the connected software product.
Reports and data will flow directly to government systems, such as the Government Provider Management System (GPMS), without the need for manual entry.
Status
Currently, 4 APIs are available for developers to build software solutions.
The number of APIs will expand over time, with additional details shared on this page.

For more information, see the API catalogue on the B2G developer portal.
Next steps
By 2026, we will implement up to 5 more APIs.
We will consult with the sector throughout the implementation process.
