This includes the new Aged Care Act, a new Code of Conduct for workers, a Star Ratings system, a mandatory minimum of care minutes per resident per day, a 24/7 nursing requirement and new quality indicators.

The results help determine residential aged care homes’ Star Rating, and helps providers identify how they can improve their services.

20 May 2025 - The HWT provides advice and recommendations to the Health Ministers’ Meeting (HMM) on priority workforce matters. The HWT develops and oversees implementation of a range of workforce strategies to meet current and future health needs of Australians.

11 June 2025 - Digital reform will support higher quality and better-connected aged care. We are supporting older people and aged care providers to prepare for digital change in 2025.

23 December 2024 - The National Nursing Workforce Strategy will establish priorities to guide the nursing workforce now and into the future. It will help address workforce challenges, foster collaboration and drive action among stakeholders in shaping the future of workforce planning, investment and reform.
