3 August 2026 - The Australian Government is committed to eliminating the inappropriate use of restrictive practices in aged care. Restrictive practices must only be used as a last resort to prevent harm to the older person or others.

12 November 2024 - This webinar supported the aged care sector in understanding how to adopt the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines. Attendees heard how the Principles and Guidelines can help create enabling and dementia-friendly environments to benefit both residents and staff.

9 January 2026 - As a registered provider, you must offer care, services and equipment in the Residential Care Service List. These include accommodation, everyday living services, non-clinical and clinical care. If agreed, you can charge separately for higher level services.

30 January 2026 - The strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards are designed to improve outcomes for older people and set clear expectations for providers in delivering quality aged care.

6 June 2025 - This framework sets out how our aged care system can meet the diverse needs of all older Australians. It includes action plans for government, aged care providers and consumers. It also provides resources to help providers meet the goals of the framework.

12 March 2025 - Some people are at higher risk of getting COVID-19, or of getting severe illness, getting long COVID or dying from COVID-19. If you are at high risk, you should take extra precautions – especially getting vaccinated – and talk to your doctor. You might be eligible for antiviral medicines.

27 July 2026 - The Australian Government pays subsidies and supplements to fund residential aged care. If eligible, you get additional supplements and other available funding.
