Ask for guidance
The AskMBS email advice service helps health professionals and practice managers understand and comply with MBS claiming requirements. We give advice on how to interpret and apply MBS items, explanatory notes, and associated legislation. We also publish advisories that summarise common issues and our responses to them.
We work with policy areas in the Department of Health, and with Services Australia, to ensure enquirers receive accurate, authoritative, and up-to-date information. AskMBS is not involved in MBS compliance. All enquiries are treated in strict confidence.
We provide advice about the requirements of MBS Items. If you are seeking advice on Medicare claims, claims adjustments or obtaining a Medicare provider number, please contact Services Australia.
