Immunisation coverage rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children

The national coverage rate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander five year olds was 95.44% at December 2023, above the target of 95% and the highest immunisation rate of any age group. The coverage for one year olds is 90.40%, while the coverage rate for two year olds is 88.78%.

We have again exceeded the target of 95% coverage for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander five year olds.

As at December 2023, the coverage rates were:

  • 90.40% for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander one year olds
  • 88.78% for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander two year olds
  • 95.44% for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander five year olds.

Six of the state and territories (Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria) have exceeded the 95% target for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander five year old vaccination.
