This summary report provides the key themes and outcomes resulting from consultation on the Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) Transition.
The ACAR has now ceased and residential aged care places will be allocated directly to older Australians from 1 July 2024.
The findings and issues presented in this report will guide the design and implementation of the ACAR Transition and related aged care reforms, including:
- issues related to aged care assessment
- allocation of residential care places
- providing information to enable informed choice
- building market stewardship
- ensuring provider viability.
The transition is part of the Australian Government’s aged care reforms to provide older Australians with choice and control over their care.
