National Health and Climate Strategy

The National Health and Climate Strategy sets out a whole-of-government plan to address the health and wellbeing impacts of climate change and address the contribution of the health system to climate change. It was released on 3 December 2023.

Australians are already experiencing the impacts of climate change on their health and wellbeing. To address these current and future challenges, the Australian Government has committed to making the issue a national health priority.

Australia’s first National Health and Climate Strategy sets out a plan to:

  • decarbonise the Australian health system
  • build health system and community resilience to the impacts of climate change on health and wellbeing.
