Description:

These guidelines are provided to assist public health authorities, residential care services, healthcare workers and carers by providing best practice information for the prevention and management of outbreaks of acute respiratory infection (including COVID-19 and influenza) in residential care facilities.

These guidelines were developed to create a single unified guidance to support a risk-based approach for the early identification of acute respiratory infection and management of outbreaks, supported by specific resources and tools provided by jurisdictions and guidance from their local public health unit.

These guidelines replace both the National Guidelines for the Prevention, Control and Public Health Management of COVID-19 Outbreaks in Residential Care Facilities and the CDNA National Guidelines for the Prevention, Control and Public Health Management of Influenza Outbreaks in Residential Care Facilities in Australia.
