Description:

The IPC Lead role is a key component of reform efforts led by the Australian Government following the special report on COVID-19 and aged care that was produced by the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety in 2020. All residential aged care homes were required to appoint an IPC Lead by 1 December 2020. This requirement is ongoing.

In 2023, the Department engaged HMA to evaluate the effectiveness of the IPC Lead role in residential aged care.
