The department has been working with older people, aged care providers and industry to help improve the quality and design of aged care accommodation. Draft design principles and guidelines have been developed to help guide providers/architects when building or renovating facilities.

Virtual reality workshops
Dementia Australia is offering free access for competition participants to Educational Dementia Immersive Experience (EDIE) virtual reality workshops. This is a 3 hour workshop enabling participants to ‘see’ the world through the eyes of a person living with dementia. The workshops are scheduled for:
There are limited spots available, which will be filled on a ‘first in best dressed’ basis. EDIE registrations close 48 hours before the date of the workshop. Participation is not mandatory.
