The department of Health and Aged Care will establish new funding arrangements for around 500 surgical general use and consumable items used by private health insurers and hospitals.
The default benefits for the General Use Bundles will be mandated through changes to the Private Health Insurance Act (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2011.
The default benefits will be informed by the Advice on Bundling Arrangements for General Use Items on the Prostheses List, provided by the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA).
More information on the new funding arrangement can be accessed online on the Minister's website.
The IHACPA report can be accessed online.
A full summary of stakeholder submissions made in response to the consultation paper on the bundling arrangements will be made available in the coming week. A summary of stakeholder submissions is included in the report.
Additionally, an IHACPA webinar to discuss the report will be held on 25 January 2023 (12pm – 1pm AEDT).
