As announced in the 2022-23 Budget, the Australian Government has:
- invested $6.3 billion from 2022-23 to 2031-32 in the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) 2nd 10-year Investment Plan. This plan builds on investments made through the MRFF’s 1st 10-year Investment Plan. It updates existing programs and provides targeted investments in emerging health priorities. It also enables the MRFF to respond to emerging health issues while addressing key health challenges
- provided $50.4 million for 19 newly announced research projects, and $253.1 million for 16 new MRFF funding opportunities
- announced the Biotechnology in Australia – Strategic Plan for Health and Medicine to support the development of a vibrant and thriving biotechnology sector in Australia.
