Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce news

Calling for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned organisations to nominate to manage the Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme (PHMSS).

The Puggy Hunter Memorial Scheme (PHMSS) encourages and assists entry-level First Nations health students complete their studies, and join the health workforce. From 1 July 2024, a First Nations-led organisation will administer the Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme (PHMSS).

This national health workforce plan sets a target for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be fully represented in the health workforce by 2031. We co-designed the plan in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health leaders.
