The Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme (PHMSS) supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health students to finish their studies in the health sector.

After graduating, they can start working as nurses, midwives, doctors, dentists, and allied health workers. They will also be able to work in their own communities where they can help improve their local health care.

For the first time, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisation will manage the scholarship scheme. The Australian Government wants more programs led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This is because they can make sure it is run in a way that is culturally safe.

If you work for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health organisation that is interested in managing the PHMSS, nominate your organisation now. You can do this through the GrantConnect Portal.

Applications close 22 January 2024.
