This brochure provides information on the registered supporter role, under the new Aged Care Act, and is aimed at older people and those who support them.

Engaging volunteers in aged care – Guidance handbook for aged care providers

The aim of this booklet is to guide providers through the considerations involved in volunteer engagement. Topics covered include the legislative environment, checklists to prepare for volunteer engagement, designing volunteer roles, recruitment and retention and some frequently asked questions.

Managing volunteers in aged care – Guidance handbook for volunteer managers

This handbook provides guidance for aged care volunteer managers for volunteer engagement and management processes including recruitment, onboarding, retention, administration and further training and information. Aged care providers can also use this resource to support their volunteer managers.

Fact sheet for older people and their families

This fact sheet is for Australian Government-funded residential aged care. It covers the definition for each quality indicator and describes how the QI Program is relevant to them.

Complaints form about registered supporters

If you have a complaint or concern about a registered supporter, you can raise this with the System Governor, responsible for supporters. This form is a template that you may wish to use when submitting a complaint about a registered supporter.

Information Sharing policy

This policy outlines information sharing requirements relating to registered supporters under the Aged Care Act 2024. Information sharing requirements apply to any person or body who, under the Act, provides information to an older person with registered supporter(s).
