Care Sector Demand Map

The Care Sector Demand Map shows the locations, size and types of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and aged care services across Australia. This helps care providers to plan for future growth of services, ensuring Australians can access disability and aged care wherever they live.

About the map

The Care Sector Demand Map replaced the NDIS Demand Map. This new version now includes aged care data alongside disability services data.

You can search by local government area, postcode or Australian Bureau of Statistics area, to find:

  • how many people are receiving services
  • which types of services are provided
  • how many providers are operating
  • what has been spent on these services.

We update the map at the end of each calendar year with data from the previous financial year. We expect data for 2023–24 to be available in late 2024.

Why it is important

The map enables NDIS and aged care providers to:

  • view recent supply and demand data
  • find where service gaps might be
  • identify business opportunities
  • expand their workforce, where required.

This will help to ensure Australians can find the support they need closer to home.

Who we work with

We have worked with the Department of Social Services to develop the map.

Consultation

DSS consulted extensively to develop the map, including with:

  • us
  • other government organisations
  • NDIS and aged care providers.
