We compile each ARSR from several data sources. These data sources are used to monitor the:
- distribution of acute respiratory illness activity in the community
- severity of infections
- populations which might be at-risk of being severely affected
- impact of acute respiratory illness activity on the Australian health system and community.
Where available, these surveillance reports may also include data on:
- virological and genomic surveillance
- vaccine effectiveness.
