National Health Literacy Framework

The Australian Government has developed the National Health Literacy Framework which provides a national approach to strengthening health literacy in Australia.

It supports action to make health information and services easier to find, understand and use, while helping people build the skills and confidence to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

The National Health Literacy Framework aims to help people access, understand and use trustworthy health information and services so they can make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

The National Health Literacy Framework supports governments, health services, health professionals, researchers and community organisations to improve the way health information and services are designed, delivered and communicated. It recognises that good health literacy depends not only on people's skills and knowledge, but also on having information and services that are easy to find, understand and use.

Framework

The National Health Literacy Framework's vision is that all people and communities in Australia are empowered and supported to access, understand and use health information and services to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
