This report provides analysis of the financial performance of the Australian aged care sector in 2020–21 financial year, including:

- capital investment in residential care
- future demand for aged care
- policies and programs for the future.
This report is produced through use of data submitted annually by aged care providers, such as income, expenses, cash flow statements and assessments. The information reported is dependent on the type of provider, such as residential aged care, home care, multi-purpose services and respite care, and the accuracy of the data submitted.
The data shows how much is spent on care, nursing, food, maintenance, cleaning and administration and profits. The report provides an insight into the financial performance of the aged care sector, including identifying industry trends and understanding the sector’s short- and long-term sustainability.
