Description:

The report highlights prominent gaps in men’s health and a keenness among practitioners and students to have access to targeted educational guidance. This will help their confidence and competence in treating and managing male patients.

In phase 1, Movember investigated available education and training for health professionals and tertiary medical students.

The report includes:

  • a review of Australian continuing professional development programs
  • a formative review of Australian tertiary education curricula
  • university staff insights survey and consultations
  • medical student survey and consultations
  • a scoping review of the peer-reviewed literature
  • what works to engage men in health care – in-depth focus group discussions with a diverse range of men.

Section 5 of the report (page 55) explains the evidence gathered from studies throughout stages 2 to 4 of this first phase of the project. It proposes to address phase 2 with an initiative called ‘The Hub’ and outlines more details.
