The Department of Health commissioned an independent review into COVID-19 outbreaks at St Basil's Home for the Aged in Fawkner, and Heritage Care Epping Gardens.
The purpose of the review is to provide the public with expert independent analysis, and assist the Department in understanding the lessons learnt, based on the experiences of those responding to outbreaks at the facilities.
As the commission was independent, the reviewers undertook all steps in the review and prepared the content of the report without direction from, or the involvement of, Department personnel.
