  • Review of support for the men’s shed movement

    In 2018, we commissioned a review to advise and recommend possible enhancements to guide the men’s shed movement in Australia, and Australian Government funding to the men’s shed movement.
  • Risk Based Targeting and Information Sharing (RBTIS)

    RBTIS is an integrated information sharing system used by both the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC or the Commission) and the Department of Health and Aged Care (the Department). It is used by the Commission in the regulation of aged care and assists in identifying providers at risk.

    The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides free emergency aeromedical evacuations and healthcare services for people living in rural and remote communities. This is often where no other health services are available. We have funded the RFDS since the 1930s.

  • Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program

    The RHMT program offers health students the opportunity to train in rural and remote communities via a network of training facilities. It aims to improve the recruitment and retention of medical, nursing, dental and allied health professionals in rural and remote Australia.
  • Rural Health Outreach Fund

    The Rural Health Outreach Fund (RHOF) supports outreach activities that improve access to medical specialists, GPs and allied health providers in rural and remote areas of Australia.
  • Rural Health Workforce Support Activity

    The Rural Health Workforce Support Activity (RHWSA) aims to meet current and future regional, rural and remote health workforce needs through workforce planning.
  • Rural Locum Assistance Program (Rural LAP)

    Rural LAP provides locums so that rural health professionals can attend continuing professional development or take vacation leave. The program also funds GPs to do extra training so they can become rural locums.
  • Rural Procedural Grants Program (RPGP)

    The RPGP helps cover the cost of professional development for procedural general practitioners (GPs) who work in rural and remote areas. This ensures people who live in rural and remote areas have access to highly qualified health professionals.

  • Security Sensitive Biological Agents (SSBA) Regulatory Scheme

    The deliberate release of harmful biological agents (viruses, bacteria, fungi and toxins) can cause significant damage to human health, the environment and the Australian economy. This scheme helps us manage the security of SSBAs and aims to limit the occurrence of acts of bioterrorism or biocrime.
  • Self-collection for the Cervical Screening Test

    All cervical screening participants now have the choice to self-collect their own Cervical Screening Test sample. A self-collected sample is taken from the vagina and is checked for human papillomavirus (HPV) – a common infection that causes almost all cervical cancers.
  • Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS)

    The Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) is helping to reduce abuse and neglect of older people receiving aged care services. It expands the responsibilities of Commonwealth-subsidised aged care providers on preventing and managing serious incidents.

    Severe Behaviour Response Teams (SBRT) provide specialist clinical support and advice to organisations and aged care staff caring for people living with severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.

    Shaping the future of paediatric palliative care aims to increase the skills of the workforce through training and the development of clinical guidelines to improve quality of care for infants, children and young people, and their families.
