1 February 2024 - In 2024, Australia is celebrating 40 years of Medicare, the backbone of Australia’s world-class health system.

6 June 2025 - The Medical Rural Bonded Scholarship Scheme has closed to new applicants. Existing participants can either continue with this scheme or opt in to the more flexible Bonded Medical Program.

29 May 2025 - The Junior Doctor Training Program (JDTP) supports education and supervision for junior doctors in rural primary health care settings and private hospitals. This helps provide a continued supply of doctors to deliver health services across Australia. It is part of our Stronger Rural Health Strategy.

17 March 2025 - This review examined how effective our current health workforce ‘distribution levers’ are. These levers consist of policies and geographic classifications that are intended to distribute health workforce across areas that need them most. The final report is now available.

20 May 2025 - The Health Roadmap Working Group is developing a roadmap to address the health and mental health inequities experienced by autistic people. The working group consists of a diverse range of stakeholders, including autistic people and representatives from the autism community.
