19 March 2024 - We work with agencies and committees to advise the Australian Government on Medicare policy and subsidies. We support patients and healthcare providers through various programs and initiatives. We protect the system’s integrity through a strong compliance program.

29 July 2025 - This program supports flexible ways of providing care where mainstream services cannot meet needs. It currently funds 2 innovative projects that focus on younger people with disabilities. The program stopped funding new projects in 2006.

3 November 2025 - As a registered provider of residential aged care, you must report each month on your registered nurse (RN) coverage for each approved residential care home.

9 October 2025 - Providers can ask people in government-subsidised residential respite care to pay some fees. These fees are different from what you can charge for permanent (ongoing) residential care.

4 March 2024 - Health practitioners must meet certain requirements to bill for Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items under Medicare or prescribe subsidised medicines. Pathology and diagnostic imaging services must meet accreditation standards to access Medicare.
