9 January 2026 - As a registered provider, you must offer care, services and equipment in the Residential Care Service List. These include accommodation, everyday living services, non-clinical and clinical care. If agreed, you can charge separately for higher level services.

22 January 2024 - Medicare provides Australians with free or subsidised health care. Australians help to cover its costs through the Medicare levy. We thoroughly assess medical services and medicines to ensure we only subsidise those that are clinically effective, cost effective and as safe as possible.

19 December 2025 - Residents entering permanent care need a means assessment to find out whether they are eligible for Australian Government support with their means tested fees and accommodation costs.

31 October 2025 - The Australian Government reduces the subsidy paid to residential aged care providers in certain cases. Providers won’t receive the total subsidy if an aged care resident pays some types of means tested fees.

27 October 2025 - Person-centred subsidies are linked to specific services an older person accesses from a provider. All 3 service groups delivered in home or community settings have person-centred subsidies.
