28 August 2026 - The Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards were implemented under the Aged Care Act 2024 on 1 November 2025. The Aged Care Quality Standards set the standard for the safety and quality of aged care accessed by older people in Australia.

19 March 2026 - Digital reform will support higher quality and better-connected aged care. We are supporting older people and aged care providers to prepare for digital change in 2025.

25 March 2025 - Budget 2025–26 information for the Health and Aged Care portfolio is now available.

30 June 2026 - We are reforming aged care in response to the Aged Care Royal Commission. This will put the rights and needs of older people first, and ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to culturally safe, appropriate and accessible care.

7 October 2025 - This program provides Diploma of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing, and Master of Nursing (Graduate entry) students with high-quality clinical placements in the care and support sector.

17 March 2025 - This review examined how effective our current health workforce ‘distribution levers’ are. These levers consist of policies and geographic classifications that are intended to distribute health workforce across areas that need them most. The final report is now available.
