20 October 2023 - On 20 October 2023, Australia’s Chief Medical Officer declared that COVID-19 is no longer a Communicable Disease Incident of National Significance (CDINS) following the end of winter in Australia. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) supports this declaration.

4 May 2023 - The Australian Government has provided close to $7.5 million to support research into improving ear and hearing health. The grants fund 9 research projects focusing on the health and wellbeing of those living with hearing impairments and preventing hearing loss.
