20 October 2023 - On 20 October 2023, Australia’s Chief Medical Officer declared that COVID-19 is no longer a Communicable Disease Incident of National Significance (CDINS) following the end of winter in Australia. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) supports this declaration.

12 June 2025 - We established this taskforce within our department to advise the government on how to respond to recent primary care and workforce reviews. The taskforce works with stakeholders to design and coordinate options for responses based on recommendations from the reviews.

8 August 2024 - This program supports patients who face extra costs to preserve their fertility (for future treatment such as IVF) because they have cancer or are at risk of passing on a genetic condition. It provides funding to help with the cost of freezing eggs, sperm or embryos (cryostorage).

25 August 2023 - The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) agreed at its meeting on 16 August 2023 to rescind the current Communicable Diseases Network Australia (CDNA) National Guidelines for Cruising in Australia (the CDNA Guidelines). The CDNA Guidelines will be rescinded as of 25 August 2023.
