From 1 September 2024, major telecommunication providers will switch off their 3G networks.

All devices relying on the 3G network will be affected, not just phones.

Some Home Care Package (HCP) and Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) clients may still have 3G enabled Goods, Equipment and Assistive Technology (GEAT) devices. This could include personal medical or alert alarms.

To ensure service continuity, HCP and CHSP providers must engage and have mitigation strategies in place with any impacted clients:

  • check if their devices will be affected at www.3gclosure.com.au
  • replace a client’s device where it is part of their care plan.
