The Delegate for the Minister of Health and Aged Care has made the Private Health Insurance (Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products) Amendment (No. 1) Rules 2024 (the MDHTP Amendment Rules). The MDHTP Amendment Rules were registered on the Federal Register of Legislation on 30 July 2024 and replace the Private Health Insurance (Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products) Rules (No. 1) 2024 (the MDHTP Rules).

The MDHTP Amendment Rules give effect to corrections of the errors identified in the Schedule to the MDHTP Rules (the Prescribed List) registered on 21 June 2024. Applications that were previously omitted are now completed and new billing codes included in the amended Prescribed List. Incorrect listing details of the billing codes have also been corrected. More information about these corrections is included in the Explanatory Statement.

The MDHTP Amendment Rules also give effect to the billing codes that had a format change.

We encourage stakeholders to take reasonable steps to ensure claims for reimbursement between 1 July and 8 August 2024 related to these corrections are honoured.
