This circular is to advise stakeholders that we have finalised and published definitions for some Prescribed List groupings in the 04. Neurosurgical, 06. Specialist orthopaedic, 12. Knee and 13. spinal categories.
We released the definitions on 23 December 2024 for stakeholder review, following ongoing stakeholder requests for clarification and interpretation. In finalising the definitions, we considered stakeholder feedback and sought advice from the respective Expert Clinical Advisory Groups (ECAG) and the Medical Devices and Human Tissue Advisory Committee (MDHTAC).
We will continue to clarify and refine definitions for groupings on the Prescribed List as these were introduced more than a decade ago and are not necessarily in line with current technology. In doing so, we will continue to discuss changes with ECAG and MDHTAC, and advise stakeholders of any consultation.
Please note that definitions for other categories remain unchanged.
